Getting started
ClipDing runs in the macOS menu bar or Windows system tray without opening settings at startup. Use the menu bar icon or double-click the Windows tray icon to open settings. Closing settings leaves the app running; choose Quit from its menu to exit. Official downloads are not available here yet. Email us about testing and release progress.
macOS permissions
Choose the Input Monitoring request in General settings, then follow System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring to enable ClipDing, restarting if requested by the system. Older permission records may use the PastGet name. Demonstrations and clipboard-update feedback work without authorization; operation recognition is limited. Secure input can prevent shortcut recognition.
Windows notes
Windows 11 x64 and ARM64 development builds include the .NET runtime. There is no macOS-style Input Monitoring permission panel; recognition is controlled in the app. Elevated windows, secure desktops and remote sessions still need real-device validation. Unsigned preview packages are not certified for Windows reputation or compatibility.
Missing or unexpected feedback
Check whether the app is running, paused, excluding the current app, suppressing full-screen feedback, or disabling the operation. On macOS, also check Input Monitoring. Context-menu copy usually shows an update; context-menu paste is usually unobservable. The app does not inspect content to confirm outcomes and uses conservative messages where evidence is limited. Verify insertion in the destination after “Paste detected.”
Appearance and placement
Choose Classic or Garden, light/dark appearance, size and motion in settings. Six anchors and a separate draggable position preview control placement; everyday feedback remains click-through. Repeated actions reduce motion and system reduced-motion preferences are respected. The desktop app supports 16 languages, switchable in settings.
Pause, startup and removal
Pause for 10 minutes or until resumed from the menu bar/tray. Login startup is opt-in. Quit and disable login startup before uninstalling. Windows includes uninstall.ps1 with an optional -RemoveSettings flag for local preferences and diagnostic files. On macOS, preferences can remain after removal; contact support if you need cleanup guidance.
Report a problem
Email your operating-system version, ClipDing version, processor architecture, affected app names and brief reproduction steps. Redact screenshots; never send passwords, keys or real clipboard content. Diagnostics are not required by default. If logs are useful, we will explain their content and local generation so you can choose whether to send them. Replies are by email, without a guaranteed response time.
