Privacy policy

What is processed, why it is needed, and the controls you have.

Effective and updated: October 19, 2026

1. Scope and responsibility

This policy is provided by the ClipDing developer and covers the current ClipDing macOS and Windows desktop apps and clipding.ykyk.love. Contact the email below for support or privacy requests. Desktop and website data handling differ, as explained here.

2. Content we do not read

The current desktop apps do not read or save clipboard text, image data, filenames, file lists or passwords, and do not keep clipboard history. They do not read typed text, arbitrary key sequences, window titles, screen contents or microphone audio. They do not modify the clipboard, take over shortcuts or block key events.

3. What desktop feedback processes

The app locally checks clipboard change counts or sequence numbers and declared content formats or format availability. To associate operations with feedback, it processes fixed shortcut key codes, modifiers, timing, operation types and foreground app identifiers. This runtime state is used in memory and is not kept as operation history after exit. Windows raw keyboard events are filtered to the keys and modifiers required for shortcut recognition, without conversion to typed text.

4. App selection and local preferences

Opening the app selector reads local installed or running app names, identifiers, paths and small icons to present available choices. Selected app identifiers or program names, language, theme, skin, position, animation, pause and onboarding preferences are saved locally. macOS uses its own UserDefaults with the compatible key PastGet.settings.v1. Windows uses %LOCALAPPDATA%\ClipDing\settings.json; legacy ClipPing or PastGet preferences may be migrated or read for compatibility. App catalogs and preferences are not uploaded to the developer.

5. Permissions and login startup

macOS Input Monitoring is used for fixed operation shortcuts. The app requests authorization only when you initiate it. Revoke it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring. Without it, shortcut recognition is limited but clipboard-update feedback remains available. Windows uses raw input and clipboard notifications without an equivalent macOS permission panel; pause recognition or quit to stop it. Login startup is optional and subject to operating-system controls.

6. Local diagnostics and previews

Normal Release builds do not enable acceptance recording. Development or dedicated validation builds can generate up to 10,000 local metadata entries only when explicitly enabled. Fields may include operation type, transaction identifier, clipboard generation, format availability, permission state, window geometry and timing, but not clipboard content, arbitrary app identities, typed characters or window titles. Explicit compatibility tests can additionally record predefined test-app categories. macOS logs are in its own Application Support/PastGet/Validation; dedicated scripts may mirror metadata to the local terminal and /tmp/PastGetValidation. Windows Debug logs are in the preferences directory’s Validation folder. Nothing is uploaded automatically; support receives logs only if you send them.

7. Desktop networking, sharing and advertising

The current desktop apps have no business-server requests, cloud sync, accounts, advertising SDKs, app analytics SDKs or automatic telemetry. Clipboard metadata, app lists and preferences are not sent to the developer or sold. Your operating system’s diagnostics, backups and device services are governed by your system and provider settings. Any future network or collection features will be explained before use, with choices or authorization where applicable.

8. Website, cookies and Cloudflare

Cloudflare hosts the website and provides HTTPS, content delivery and security. Serving requests exposes IP addresses, requested URLs, times, browser/User-Agent and network or security information to Cloudflare, potentially across its global infrastructure. We do not integrate visitor analytics, advertising trackers, external fonts or embedded media. The site itself sets no cookies and uses no localStorage or tracking identifiers. Necessary Cloudflare security cookies may be used when security features or checks are triggered. The demo runs only in page memory and does not access your system clipboard. Language switching uses navigation links. Infrastructure processing and retention depend on provider policies and active security configuration; this policy does not promise an absence of infrastructure logs. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy below.

9. Emails you choose to send

Contacting support provides your email address, message and any attachments, used only for support, feedback or privacy requests. Mail is handled through the chosen Gmail/Google provider. Do not send passwords, keys, private clipboard content or unredacted sensitive screenshots. Support emails are normally retained for no more than 12 months after an issue closes, except where legal duties or ongoing disputes require retention. You may request earlier deletion; residual copies may remain subject to the provider’s backup and retention mechanisms.

10. Retention, deletion and rights

Runtime state clears on exit. Local preferences and opt-in diagnostic files remain until deleted. Uninstalling may leave preferences: Windows uninstall.ps1 supports -RemoveSettings to delete preferences and validation logs; on macOS, quit before removing the app’s own preferences and the logs above. Legacy identifiers may say PastGet. Contact support for guidance. There is no developer-held cloud clipboard archive. Where applicable, request access, correction or deletion of support information you supplied, object to or restrict processing, or complain to the relevant authority. We may need proportionate information to verify a request, but will not ask for clipboard content.

11. Children, security and changes

ClipDing is a general desktop utility, not designed for children, and does not intentionally solicit their personal information. Guardians can request deletion of information supplied in support communications. Data minimization, HTTPS and system permissions reduce risks but cannot guarantee absolute device or communication security. Changes will carry an updated date, with material changes communicated through the website or app as appropriate. This policy does not restrict rights under applicable law.
